Open Hands

How you speak to Allah ﷻ reveals what you know about Him. The greatest treasures aren't always found in the fulfillment of our requests. Many are found in the process of asking itself when it's done with sincerity, humility, and understanding. In learning how to ask, we also begin learning how to know, view, and draw near to Allah (SWT).
Open Hands is a biweekly gathering for young professionals exploring the authentic duaas of the Prophets (AS) found in the Qur’an. We reflect on the Prophet (AS) who made the duaa, the moment in their life when it was spoken, and the deep spiritual, theological, and psychological lessons within those words.
Each session focuses on one duaa and its context, allowing us to understand how the Prophets (AS) turned to Allah (SWT) in moments of fear, hope, grief, gratitude, and longing, and what their words reveal about who Allah (SWT) is* In doing so, we begin to see how the Prophets (AS) knew Him, understood Him, and called upon Him.
We'll learn how to open our hands to Allah (SWT) using the language of His most beloved servants, deepen our understanding of Him, and carry those lessons into the way we call upon Him throughout our lives. 🤲🏼
For young professionals ages 23 and older. No babysitting available. Children up to age 3 welcome with parental supervision only.
Our media team takes pictures and videos at most events, most of which are group shots that appear for a few seconds. If you’d like to request not to be included in any shots, please let us know at the check-in table so we can tell the media team!
