Help us make 2026 our biggest year yet!
Thabaat is a community space building spiritual and social connections for young professionals in the Metro Detroit area.
Thabaat means firmness, constancy, and stability. It comes from the most repeated supplication of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ): “Oh Turner of Hearts, keep our hearts firm upon Your path.” We are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for young professionals of all levels of faith and practice to find good company, engaging conversation, and a constant source of strength on their spiritual journeys.
Our efforts are under the guidance and mentorship of Miftaah Institute.
What We've Done
In 2023, we launched our first program: the flagship, bi-weekly Monday gathering for young professionals ages 23 and older. We held 29 events that year in total, including free Ramadan iftars, social nights, pop-ups, and the first Muslim young professionals conference in Michigan, serving over 3000 attendees.
In 2024, we held our first fundraising banquet, which allowed us to increase our output to 42 events throughout the year, serving over 5000 attendees. We continued our iftars, pop-ups, annual conference, and we even hosted a weekend nature retreat with 100 participants. We then launched our second flagship program, a monthly gathering for ages 30 and older, and we held our first annual Umrah trip.
In 2025, we held our second banquet and our first active fundraising campaign. Because of your support, we organized 55 events. We continued the bi-weekly Monday gatherings for ages 23+ and monthly Thursdays for ages 30+. We added a new regular program: a monthly travelling qiyam series, visiting new masjids each month. We also continued everything that makes us Thabaat: the annual conference, iftars, pop-ups, and more. In addition, we helped renovate and brought new furniture and equipment into the Miftaah cafe, making it a more weloming space for the community at large.
Our Goals
1️⃣ Develop an exclusive Thabaat event space at the Miftaah campus. This will drastically reduce the time needed for set-up and clean-up, give us more event availability, and help improve the quanitity and quality of our programs. The more we collect, the more we'll be able to invest in making this space a welcoming home with the needed technology and amenities to serve the community.
2️⃣ Fund free dinners at our regular programs. We do not charge any fees for our programs, and we always strive to provide high quality refreshments, desserts, and appetizers. However, we know that people sometimes feel like they need to choose between nourishing their soul at Thabaat or nourishing their body after a long day of work. We want to be able to provide free dinners more often, and ideally at every event. With 100+ in regular attendance, the cost for this goal alone could be over $100,000.
3️⃣ Launch professional development events. Last year, we hosted a dedicated professional networking program at our annual conference, and there has been heavy demand for more events like that, along with financial planning workshops, resume and interview preparation, career-specific panels, and more. We want to add these events to our regular programming, at least on a quarterly basis. Donations will offset the considerable cost of bringing in experts, materials, and related expenses, so that ticket prices can be as low as possible.
4️⃣ Increase outreach and social events, such as the coffee shop pop-ups. These events are major drivers for bringing new attendees into our community, but they often require significantly more resourcing than other events. We want to target at least a quarterly cadence.
5️⃣ Increase media support, so we can reach broader audiences online, keep regular members connected, and maximize the impact of each event. We don't have the resourcing capacity to record and release all of our programs online, but that is a stretch goal for us if the support is there.
